PHOTOJOURNALISM II
Learning Objectives: This course will build upon the skills covered in 261. While many of the assignments are similar the goal is to further expand how you “see” with the camera and by extension, communicate thru your photos. We will look at photographs from both a technical and aesthetic point of view.

Method and Content: J/MC 262 is a discussion/lab course. I will occasionally give short lectures. Mostly, I expect the class to engage in intelligent and critical discussion about the topics listed in this syllabus and other topics as they may arise based on your interests. Weekly assignments will build on these ideas. An important part of this class will be the weekly edits and critique. You will learn as much or more from the impact of your photos on your peers as you will in class lectures and demonstrations. Participation is expected and will be a significant part of your grade. While the technical is important, the larger goal is to learn to “see” and understand what the camera can do for you and how that relates to reporting a story or event.
